The village of Broadway has long been referred to as the “Jewel of the Cotswolds.” It is not only a haven for architectural marvels, but also a sanctuary of serene nature and scenic surroundings. The village is home to charming flower gardens and picturesque cottages, each adorned with colorful blooms and ivy-covered walls.

As you explore the charming streets and corners of Broadway Village, you’ll be greeted by a diverse cast of characters, going about their daily lives. From locals engaging in lively conversations outside the cozy shops and cafes to visitors admiring the architecture of the historic buildings, there’s a sense of authenticity and human connection that radiates through these scenes.

As you venture out to explore this charming village, you will find many beautiful hidden—and out in the open—spots. This is a quick guide for those that are planning on spending a couple of hours in the village. Here is a list of 5 prettiest spots in Broadway:

5 Prettiest Spots in Broadway, The Cotswolds

1. High Street

High Street is basically considered Broadway’s Main Street. A mixture of shops, restaurants, period houses, and picturesque honey-colored stone cottages can be appreciated from here. A stroll down Broadway’s High Street is like going back in time, and it is easy to see why so many national and international visitors find themselves wandering around this village.

2. The Village Green

The Broadway Village Green is at the heart of the community. Mostly all local events—such as music festivals and farmer markets—take place here. With cafes and pubs on either side, it has become a popular spot to picnic in the village. It is the perfect spot to spend some time with family and friends, as there is plenty of space to run and play around. If taking a walk, I suggest sitting on one of the benches and admiring the surrounding view from here.

3. Lygon Arms

The Lygon Arms, a 600-year-old coaching inn, is an iconic landmark that holds countless stories within its walls. From hosting famous figures like Oliver Cromwell to serving as a meeting place for local townsfolk, this historic establishment has been a central hub of village life. As you appreciate its charming facade and step inside, you can almost sense the echoes of laughter and conversations that have filled its rooms throughout the centuries.

4. Lygon Arms Garden

Located at the back of the Lygon Arms (crossing Back Lane), you will find a series of beautiful well-taken cared gardens connected to each other. Each garden looks stunningly different and is worth admiring. Here you can simply go on a walk, or you can sit on one of the many benches available and have a peaceful, serene moment connecting with nature. It was undoubtedly one of our favorite things to do as a family!

5. “The Bridal Room” Square

“The Bridal Room” is a bridal boutique located at 4 Keil Close – High St. The little square where the shop is situated is very quaint and picturesque. I found this hidden spot while wandering around the village and I simply loved how simple and enchanting it looked!

How to Get to the Village

There are three different ways to get to the village. If you are coming from London, you can get there by

• Car (it is a little less than a 2 hr drive)

• Train (you would have to exit at the Moreton-In-Marsh station and from there take the “Stagecoach Midland” bus. The trip lasts about 3 hrs)

• Bus (you can take the “National Express” from the Victoria Coach Station and switch to “Pulhams Coaches” in Cheltenham. This is the longest option, with the trip lasting roughly about 5 hrs)

Where Can I Stay in the Village

According to your budget, you can choose different accommodation options. My most trusted websites and recommendations are:

Booking.com – The popular site allows you to book the best hotels and accommodations!

Lygon Arms Hotel – You can stay in this famous 17th Century hotel where royalty, as well as notable rebellious figures, have been hosted throughout the centuries.
