The Iconic Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The park opened in 1989 as the Disney-MGM Studios and was initially developed as both a theme park AND a production studio to film and animate movies. In fact, several Disney classics (such as Mulan and Lilo and Stitch) were animated in this park.
Since then, Hollywood Studios has had the biggest transformation of any park—including the changing of its name from Disney-MGM Studios to Hollywood Studios in 2008. Because of its big transformation and newer look, many things in the park look new and perfect for social media pictures. It seems that Disney learned quickly if they gave us all the cute walls and spots, we would put them all over social media!

The Best Photo Spots in Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is divided into 8 different areas: Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Commissary Lane, Grand Avenue, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, Animation Courtyard, and Sunset Boulevard. As such, here are some of the best photo spots in Hollywood Studios!
Taking Pictures on Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood Boulevard operates as the park’s main street, and it was inspired by the real street of the same name in Los Angeles, California.
Photo spots on Hollywood Boulevard include:
- Oscar’s Classic Car Souvenirs: These retro gas pumps are the cutest ever! There is also an old-school tow truck. Both of these spots can be found to the right of the entrance.
- The Darkroom: Walking into Hollywood Boulevard, you will find “The Darkroom” standing to the right of the street. The facade design is that of a camera which offers great photo opportunities! Just make sure you step back quite a bit or use a wide-angle lens to get all the facade in the frame.
- Sid Cahuenga’s One-of-a-Kind: You will find “Sid Cahuenga’s One-of-a-Kind” building to the left of the entrance. The building’s architecture and lawn decorations are a great option for photo backdrops, and so is the destination sign pointing the way to some major cities around the world!
- Chinese Theatre: The “Chinese Theatre” is the iconic landmark you see when you enter Hollywood Studios. It is currently home to the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad ride, and a must-spot to document in Hollywood Studios. Plus, in the theatre’s courtyard, you can also take some pictures with the famous handprints on the cement!
- Exit from the Chinese Theatre: Before you exit the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad attraction, make sure to turn around and take a picture with this awesome wall!

Taking Pictures on Echo Lake
Echo Lake was inspired by Echo Park, an actual neighborhood near Hollywood, California. Although this is a small area in Hollywood Studios, it was designed to transport guests to the 1950s—Hollywood’s Golden Age!
Photo spots on Echo Lake include:
- 50s Prime Time Cafe: This is a lovely spot for a good retro picture! If you decide to dine in, you can also try and take photos in some of the dining rooms.
- Echo Lake: This is a wonderful spot to take pictures as you can get the Dockside Diner (a large boat) in the background along with Gertie the Dinosaur!
- Gertie the Dinosaur: “Gertie the Dinosaur” is the earliest animated film to feature a dinosaur! You can snap some pictures with Gertie from various angles, just as shown in the pictures!
- Echo Lake Apartments: The “Echo Lake Apartments” are located next to the “50s Prime Time Cafe” and are one of the unique, authentic spots to snap a picture (especially if you want a subtle Disney look!)
- Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular (Exterior): This area offers a lot of props to snap adventure-like photos! You can find it near the back of Echo Lake.

Taking Pictures on Commissary Lane
Commissary Lane isn’t a big land in Hollywood Studios, but even with that, it has great dining options and a great character meet and greet.
Photo spots on Commissary Lane include:
- Courtyard: A picture standing in the middle of the courtyard is a good way to document “Commissary Lane.” There are also several signs with the names of famous tv shows such as American Idol, The Bachelor, and Dancing with the Stars.
- Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant: This is another spot to throw it back to the ’50s! Outside of “Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant” you will find a sign with the restaurant’s name, and also a car and billboard you can take pictures with!

Taking Pictures on Grand Avenue
Grand Avenue follows the name of the historic district in downtown Los Angeles. Currently, the area features a city street facade (of shops and apartments) and a Muppets area.
Photo spots on Grand Avenue include:
- Muppets Courtyard: Here you can strike a pose in front of the iconic Miss Piggy’s Fountain!
- Muppet Statue: Take a picture with Kermit the Frog! You will find the big statue as you exit the “Muppet Vision 3D” attraction.
- Tomato Loading Zone: You can find this wall to the right of the PizzeRizzo restaurant!
- It’s a Wonderful Shop: This is a cute spot to snap a picture, especially in the holiday season!
- Street Backdrop: This backdrop offers another opportunity to snap a picture around this area! You will find it next to the statue of “Kermit the Frog!”

Taking Pictures on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is the newest land in Hollywood Studios, as it opened in 2019. As you enter this area you are transported to a galaxy far, far away—making it the perfect place for all Star Wars-inspired outfits!
Photo Spots on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge include:
- Androids outside of Droid Depot: You will find these cute droids to the right as you enter “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” from Toy Story Land!
- Space Vehicles: You will find Disney photographers in this area, so make sure to stand at a good angle as there will be other people taking pictures as well!

Toy Story Land opened in 2018 and is the perfect place to go to infinity and beyond with your pictures!
Photo spots in Toy Story Land include:
- Toy Story Land Sign (Woody): Here, you can snap a picture of yourself next to a larger-than-life Woody! You will usually find a PhotoPass photographer in this area so you may want to wait in line or find a comfortable angle to take a picture.
- Toy Story Mania! (Exit): As you exit from the “Toy Story Mania!” attraction, turn around and take a picture with the colorful walls!
- Jessie Wall: As you continue to exit from “Toy Story Mania!,” you fill find Jessie to the left right before entering the shop!
- Woody Wall: This is another wall you can find at the exit of “Toy Story Mania!.” It is right outside and it’s a large wall, so you shouldn’t miss it!
- Checkered Wall: Finally, this is another wall you can find as you are exiting the “Toy Story Mania!” attraction.
- Pixar Ball: Once you get outside of the “Toy Story Mania!” attraction and are back on the main path, keep your eyes out for this large Pixar Ball! (You will find it on the left side as you walk out).
- Buzz Lightyear Statue: Find this big statue outside the entrance to “Alien Swirling Saucers!”
- Popsicle Stick Wall: You can spot this wall right in front of the Buzz Lightyear statue.
- Slinky Dog Dash: Stand in front of the ride and, when Slinky Dog makes his appearence, quickly snap a picture!

Taking Pictures on Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard is one of the smallest areas in Hollywood Studios and it was originally the starting point for the Studio Backlot Tour. There are no attractions in Animation Courtyard, only meet-and-greets. It is for that reason I recommend this being the last area to take pictures.
Photo spots in Animation Courtyard include:
- Hollywood Studios Arch: This large arch is easy to spot as you first enter Animation Courtyard!
- Incredibles Wall: This area is typically fairly empty but it still offers an amazing opportunity to take pictures—there are currently two cute “Incredible Walls” in this area!
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid: Although this ride is no longer running at Hollywood Studios, this is a good spot for any Little Mermaid lovers/outfits!

Taking Pictures on Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is home to two of Hollywood Studios’ most popular attractions—the Rock n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.
Photo spots in Sunset Boulevard include:
- Carthay Circle: Snap a picture in front of this amazing storefront with the words “Once upon a time” on it!
- The Hollywood Tower Hotel: At the end of the street, you will find the iconic “Hollywood Tower Hotel.” You can choose to sit down on the ground for a unique angle, but if you choose to stand in front of it, make sure to take advantage of it early in the morning as the crowds are smaller!
- Legends of Hollywood: Take a picture in front of this retro-looking movie theater! You find it to your right as you first enter Sunset Boulevard.
- Route 66 Sign: This spot can be found outside of Reel Vogue and is a popular place for photos!
